Habitat for Humanity of Summit County is part of a nationwide campaign along with other Habitat affiliates called Cost of Home. This 5 year advocacy campaign began in 2019 and since it’s start it has helped 6.6 million people gain access to stable and affordable homes. There have been over 300 policy changes influenced by local and state Habitat organizations.
Working alongside local and state Habitat for Humanity organizations, partners, volunteers, and community members the campaign aims to help 10 million people achieve access to an affordable home.
Thank you for joining us through this campaign and raising your voices to our local officials. We hope you continue to raise awareness for this essential campaign because families all across the United States are paying too high a price to cover their cost of home.
At Habitat, we know that a family should never have to spend more than 30% of their income on a home. Yet, 20.3 million households – nearly 1 in 6 – paid more than half their income on housing in 2021.
