Irine came to the United States in 2019 from Kenya. She had lost
everything including her family and her home. Irine has three children and one grandchild. One of her children, Joan, has come to the U.S. to attend The University of Akron. Irine currently works as an independent provider for Ohio Department of Disabilities. rine plans to pursue a LPN degree at Stark State. Joan’s daughter also has come to the U.S. with her mother and is currently living with Irine.
Irine heard about Habitat for Humanity through a friend. She looked into the program on the internet and visited Habitat to get the information needed. She applied with Habitat because purchasing a home through a conventional loan would be difficult considering her
income.
Irine looks forward to owning a home so that she can have a garden and work in the yard. Irine values hard work and helping others.
