Status: For Sale
We are excited to announce the ground breaking of a brand new 16 home development of affordable housing. This milestone is a major move for Habitat for Humanity on its mission to build homes, community and hope by creating affordable homeownership opportunities, stable families and stronger, more vibrant communities.
This is the largest project in the affiliate’s history, surpassing their 2020 East Avenue 8 home development. Multi-home developments allow for larger volunteer groups to engage on the build site and create a true sense of community for the homeowners in Habitat’s program.
“This is a really exciting time for our organization and the families that partner with us.” says Rochelle Sibbio, President & CEO at Habitat for Humanity of Summit County. “In two years, 16 homes will be completed and a new City of Akron park will be here to serve the community.”
This ground breaking comes in the wake of many recent initiatives and accomplishments of the organization, including:
- Program Expansion with Monumental $3.5M MacKenzie Scott Donation
- Akron-Summit Age-Friendly Accredited Charity by the Better Business Bureau of Akron
- Expanded homeownership opportunities through whole house rehab with Preserve a Home Program
- Pathways to Homeownership, a program to help families lower their debt to qualify for a home with Habitat for Humanity.
This project is made possible through strong partnership with the City of Akron, the Federal Home Loan Bank of Cincinnati, the American Rescue Plan Act funds, and many other financial partners.
