It’s Official – Habitat for Humanity of Summit County is now an Akron-Summit Age-Friendly Accredited Chartiy, certified by the Better Business Bureau of Akron
AKRON, OHIO –
Habitat for Humanity of Summit County is now an Akron-Summit Age-Friendly Accredited Charity, certified by Better Business Bureau of Akron (BBB). This designation is part of the Age-Friendly Business Program, an initiative launched by BBB in partnership with local agencies to promote age-friendly business practices.
“Almost 19% of Summit County’s population is composed of older adults,” said Shannon Siegferth, BBB President & CEO. “Our goal is to ensure all businesses are accessible for the many different demographics that can be consumers.”
The program is coordinated by BBB as part of the Akron-Summit Age-Friendly coalition and was developed by the efforts of organizations across Summit County, including the Office of Summit County Executive Ilene Shapiro, the City of Akron and Akron Zoo.
The goal of the program is to encourage and assist businesses to address the needs of older customers. To become Age-Friendly, a business must first submit an interest form on bbb.org/agefriendly-akronsummit and then undergo an assessment to determine whether it meets a variety of criteria regarding the business’ physical environment, marketing materials and customer experience.
